An Easter Thought

With the greatest holiday approaching, I hope to get you thinking about the greatest event that ever occurred. It is the Gospel Message, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The prophet Isaiah, 600 years before it ever happened, told us that He would be “despised and rejected by men”. This is the Son of God, the Creator, and the created are going to reject Him! Wow! And sure enough, 600 years later we read in the Gospel of Matthew, “And plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill Him.” (Matthew 26:4) Imagine being one of the crowd, one of the conspirators to plot and desire the murder of Jesus, The Son of God!

But your sin and my sin is why He came and “laid down” His life! (2 Corinthians 5:21) He loves you so much that He took the abuse of humanity, for your salvation!

May nothing we do ever take away from the glory, praise, and adoration He deserves!

Making Application

One of the most probing verses of Scripture is James 1:22 “But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” This verse implies that we can deceive ourself. The area of deception is to know a principle or verse of Scripture, and not be actively engaged in living the principle. A certain trial I am currently engaged in is a great example of this for me. I can counsel and tell others how to handle “life’s problems”, but when handling this one particular trial in my life, it is so hard for me to be the example I should be.
We are experts at giving excuses and reasons why not – but … We are to be a Doer of the Word – the Whole Word!

He Loves You!

In a BibleGateway poll, it was found that in 2010 John 3:16 was the most searched for Bible verse. I wonder if it is because people see someone at a sporting event wear a tie-dye shirt or colorful wig with the inscription on their chest. Or, is it because they are seeking for love? for God? The verse is the capstone of the Gospel! God so loved the world that He gave His only Son! This is true love! The love of God is so amazing, so astounding! A proper concept of sin, and a right concept of God will cause you to sit in amazement and thanksgiving!
