Our Greatest Treasure

There are two verses in 1 Peter that speak volumes on what really matters most. I will find myself thinking about the things of this world from time to time. Some bling and glitter are always nice. My dream has always been a Corvette. But these things in the scope of eternity do not matter.

1 Peter 1:18-19 “Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.”

Wow! All the world has to offer is that which will perish. I couldn’t mortgage the blood of Jesus Christ, but He ransomed me with His blood! It is the greatest treasure. It will never perish, erode, corrupt, rust, or shrink! The perfect Lamb of God and His blood is my greatest treasure!

A Spiritual Reflection on Sandy Hook

As you may know our church is located in the Sandy Hook, Newtown area. Our community will never be the same. While various agendas have been put forward, many of them good, I would like to promote the agenda of Jesus in this time of need and healing.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, is the Great Physician. Jesus is the Balm of Gilead. Jesus is the Healer of Broken Hearts. Jesus is Our Only Hope!

If the true message and genuine love of Jesus Christ had met this young man’s heart years ago, we might not be experiencing the hurt we do today. The greatest need of our nation, our community, and our individual lives is to know Jesus as our personal Savior. When we know Him and allow Him to be Lord, He changes us from the inside out. Only Christ can change lives this way.

The greatest need of all people is the love and saving power of Jesus Christ. Love someone today with the love that He demonstrated to us!
