Though its cover is worn and its pages are torn, and the places bear traces of tears;
Yet more precious than gold is this Book worn and old, that can shatter and scatter our fears!
Have you read your Bible today? It is so important and so special!
Another verse on hope that I appreciate is Psalm 42:5. In the same chapter verse 11 repeats the phrase; “Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God.”
In this chapter the Psalmist has been experiencing a very difficult time. He says (and a well known song has been written from this chapter) that his soul pants after His God, just as the deer does for water. In his trouble, tears, and heartache the very thing that caused the psalmist to find comfort was his “Hope”. Hope is the confident assurance that eternity is mine, God is in control, and no matter how hard the difficulty God can get me through it!
If you are currently experiencing a tough trial, place your hope in God. Trust and rest in His promise! His promise to you in verse 5 & 11 is that You Will Again Praise Him, Your Salvation, Your God!
In a world where hope is defined as “hope so”, the Biblical concept for hope is assurance. It is always important for us to define terms.
Colossians 1:27 states, “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” What a wonderful verse!
The Old Testament Jews didn’t expect God to graft in or allow the Gentile people to become part of His family! This mystery was exposed and made known after His death, burial, and resurrection. So as the Apostle Paul addresses this church, he reassures the church that “Christ in you” is their hope. Jesus in the life of the believer is the assurance of God’s plan! Jesus is the “Assurance” of glory!
As a believer in Jesus Christ, you can go through your day shining and showing the assurance of glory! Wear a smile! You have the “Hope of Glory”!
I love the verse found in 1 Peter 1:12. “Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Our focus, calling, hope, assurance, and future is all wrapped up in one event! The Return of Jesus Christ is our future! What a glorious event it will be! The Bible says, “every eye shall see Him, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord”. This verse in Peter states that “all grace” will be brought to you on that day. What a day that will be! I am ready for it, it is my assurance and confidence!
